THE HOUSE & TOWN

The home of The Banksy House is an old seaside town, in a neglected corner of East England, called Great Yarmouth.

The Banksy House is in a forgotten corner of the forgotten town, surrounded by old warehouses and a disused gasworks.

But a new bridge has been built to connect the area to the rest of the town and the old gasworks are being refurbished with a new park.

The area is full of opportunity for change and The Banksy House is in the centre of it.

GREAT YARMOUTH

Charles Dickens once described Great Yarmouth as “…the finest place in the Universe”

That was a while back

Yarmouth has a rich history stretching back over 1000 years, and was one of the UK’s prime seaside towns for over a century. The town began to decline in the 1980s, a victim of the forces of history.

It could be argued by some that Yarmouth is not as Great as it used to be.

However, the town has a heart and a soul, a rich heritage, a small but active street art scene, and a forward-looking local council, that understands that street art can be used to help regenerate urban spaces and communities.
